International Scheming
I’m off to London on Friday for the Mont Pelerin Society meeting. But before that I’ll be having coffee with an old friend whom I met at Moscow State University in 1989, Yuri Novitsky, to talk about what he’s been up to and about the prospects for ever greater liberty in Russia. (He splits his time between Moscow and Paris and is in D.C. for a short visit.) And it turns out that a new young friend from Moscow, Piotr Kaznacheev, will be in London during the MPS meeting, so I’ll be introducing him to the wider classical liberal network there, before his return to Moscow. (Piotr just finished up an MA at the School for Advanced International Studies of the Johns Hopkins University and a Ph.D. from Moscow State University.) Both of these guys are smart as whips and dedicated to freeing people from subjection to arbitrary power. A few thousand more people of their caliber and the whole world would be free.
