The BBC just announced that after a week of bombardment, “it does not appear that the will of the Iraqi people has started to crumble.” Is it the “will of the Iraqi people” that is fighting against Coalition forces, or the will of the totalitarian dictator and his henchmen? The BBC editors should be ashamed of themselves. Andrew Sullivan links to some pretty damning remarks about the BBC’s coverage of the war. The person who blasted the BBC was the BBC’s own front line defense correspondent, Paul Adams, in an internal memo that was leaked to the British press.
Postscript: It’s been suggested that the BBC should be renamed the “Baghdad Broadcasting Corporation.” The BBC’s bias is disgraceful. It’s one thing to take pains to avoid being a propaganda tool for the British government, and another to take positive steps to become a propaganda tool for the Ba’athist regime in Baghdad.
