Sgt. Christopher Russell Palmer of the Third Armored Cavalry Regiment has touched down today in Colorado Springs after over a year in Iraq, away from his wife Dawn and their daughter Christian Nikole. We are all very proud of Chris, as would be his namesakes, Russell Henry Palmer, his great-grandafther (whom he never had the chance to meet and whom I only met once before his death), and his late uncle James Russell Palmer. Chris had most recently been training Iraqis who have volunteered for the new Iraqi Army — a valuable and important service to the Iraqi people.
