For those interested in the arguments set forth in the case governing the federal government’s attempts to prohibit marijuana in a state that has legalized its use for medicinal purposes, the Cato Institute brief before the Supreme Court prepared by Douglas W. Kmiec is well worth reading.
I, like any good libertarian, support ending the Drug War (in fact, if I had to pick one, that might be my biggest issue), but regardless, and I did not take the time to read the whole brief (mainly ’cause I’m no lawyer), but how the heck does growing marijuana in one state for use in said state have to do w/ interstate commerce???
Answer: it doesn’t
