I’m at the University of North Carolina where I’ll spend the next few days moderating what should be (my moderation notwithstanding) a fascinating and very enlightening conference on “The Political Economy of Constitutions and Courts.” I’ve learned a lot from the papers and am looking forward to the discussions, all of which should also prove helpful to me next week in helping Iraqis to create a stable constitutional order that recognizes and supports an independent judiciary.
