Due to the increase in the last few days in terrorist attempts to target and murder foreigners here (other than the foreigners among the extremists themselves, of course), I won’t be discussing any events after the fact until after I am back in the U.S. (And even then, as before, with no names or details.)
I may write a bit when I get a chance and access to the internet, but on other things. (I am getting some additional reading and writing done on matters related to my discussions and presentations here, however.)
Tom G. refers to “the increase in the last few days in terrorist attempts to target and murder foreigners here (other than the foreigners among the extremists themselves, of course).” That reference to “foreigners among the extremists” is, presumably, a reference to Jeremy Sapienza and Justin Raimondo, who, as I understand it, have shot down a helicopter transporting Americans through Baghdad. This was only yesterday (or perhaps it was the day before), and Heaven only knows what enormities they have up their nefarious sleeves for a second act. . . .
Mr Riggenbach: do you a) have any idea what satire is *supposed* to look like and b) actually think you are funny?
The comments you make I’m sure have *some* reason behind them (somewhere) but I doubt any of us get it.
The fact that there are murders and attacks going on somewhere in the proximity of Dr Palmer is, for Mr Riggenbach apparantly, the *perfect* opportunity to start making tactless quips about no laughing matter.
Well, that’s enough. I could not have imagined anyone being so malicious as the person who posted the first comment above. Today I watched on Al Jazeera the execution of a wounded Bulgarian pilot and on Iraqi TV the dead being taken away from a bomb blast set by terrorists at a Shiite mosque. Over the last few days a large number of foreigners were assassinated, including pilots, bodyguards, drivers, and Marla Ruzicka, who had come over to help the victims caught in the crossfire. Millions of Iraqis live in fear of the terrorists’ car bombs and execution squads. I don’t find any of it amusing.
Tom: You don’t find it amusing because you are a real libertarian, and engaged with the real world.
We need more people like you; and I suspect your activities will help accomplish just that.
Best to you!
Very disturbing news.
Tom: take care and keep up the good work!
Tom, maybe it’s time to GTFO. Or at least invest in better body armor. Hope your Krav work has been going well. (Yoda: “Remember your training! Save you, it can!”)
The USG has done horrible and terrible things in Iraq over the years, but this in no way changes the fact that the current batch of car bombers and kidnappers are MURDEROUS ASSHOLES. There are reasonable and decent ways to get the USG off of one’s back, but killing and terrorizing people who are not paid USG agents isn’t one of them.
It’s the existence of these kinds of scumbags that makes armed revolution against tyranny such a dicey proposition. I despise the USG as an institution, but attempts to resist it through violence stand a good chance of degenerating into the kind of mess Dr. Palmer is stuck in now.
The real horror comes when The People demand A Strong Leader to bring an end to the Chaos and Restore Order. We know exactly where that leads: Saddam 2.0.
In a few sentences, Mr. Riggenbach demonstrates that he is: 1) Self-centered, for pretending that all of Dr. Palmer’s comments are about his ilk, 2) Self-loathing, for thinking that others would think that way about him or his friends, and 3) Completely void of taste and tact.
In a previous comment, Mr. Riggenbach has admitted to posting here for the sake of chain-jerking. Clearly, he is aiming for shock value and for wasting our time. Whether he is wasting his own time remains to be seen, as one is left wondering what his alternate activities are, when he’s not jerking chains.
I know we/Dr Palmer shouldn’t stifle others, but might I suggest filtering his comments/flagging his IP from here on out, just for sanity’s sake?
Mr. Riggenbach will likely get less annoying over time. Chronic irresponsible war leading to mass death and destruction often causes anti-war people to get so steamed that they lose their discipline and bearing. But they can regroup and resume the attack against state-organized murder in a productive manner, given time and opportunity.
It’s important not to take things too personally.
