I’ve just gotten back in from an exhausting trip from Bucharest, with an unpleasant and seemingly endless delay in Paris. I’ll be posting some material (including photos from Belis, in Transylvania) soon. I also learned a lesson, which is that if I’m not around to moderate comments, I should turn them off. I had a few minutes of internet access in Cluj and put up the item immediately below. When I went to Belis, there was no internet access other than my Blackberry (since there was — amazingly enough — cell phone service there). I got a few emails from friends informing me that in my absence some remarkably tasteless and disgusting comments had been posted, so I managed to email my friend and volunteer webmaster with a request to delete the more obviously gross items. I’ve not looked at what is still up, but I heard it got ugly. Lesson learned.
