A Delegation of Young French Libertarians
Another reason to be optimistic about the future is the number of enthusiastic young people who are eager to carry the standard of liberty. I was sent this photo by a member of a delegation of French students and recent graduates who came to the U.S. to see what they could learn about doing a better job at slashing back the creeping tendrils of statism in their country. People in the U.S., of course, also have a lot to learn from them. And not least is their courage to carry on such an important fight.
(I’m the improperly dressed one….I normally do dress properly, but we’ve instituted the “Casual Friday” policy at Cato and, although I usually ignore it, I was very rushed that day and it was blazingly hot, to boot.)
A small correction: one of the participants, although working on a Ph.D. in economics in France, is from Bulgaria. She suggested the Free University of Varna as the site for the seminar that IES Europe held there.
