Arthur Seldon, upon being awarded
an honorary doctorate in 1999
Everyone interested in economic rationality, not to mention the liberty of the individual, should mourn the passing of a great friend of freedom. His work at the Institute of Economic Affairs has changed the world for the better. The obituary in the Independent does a pretty good job of describing Arthur Seldon’s life and achievements.
UPDATE: Note also the surprisingly balanced obituary in the New York Times.
RIP, Arthur Seldon, RIP. His ideals live on in his writings, which are being made available through the Liberty Fund, as well as in the classical liberal organization, the Institute for Economic Affairs, in which he put so much of his life.
May he always be remembered.
Just a thought.

Not only his writings and other achievements but also his attitude towards life and the battle of ideas is a great example for all of us.
