Crisis, Government, and History

Federal Budget Growth Since 1850.jpg
I finally managed to upload a PDF version of the Powerpoint presentation I made at the Freedom School before departing for Vienna. Naturally, it’s just the broad outline of my thesis, but some may find the graphs on U.S. government spending (for which I thank my colleaue, Stephen Slivinski) or the quotations helpful.

Thanks! I liked the useful quotes and points, but I especially liked the graphs. I wonder if you have one showing per capita spending over time. Also, do you have the data in some form you could share? I am going to email you about this, too, so you could send it to me that way.

I’ve shared the data on Spreadsheet (courtesy of my colleague Steve Slivinski, who put it together for me) withn Anthony and others.

And Ross, of course you know that plenty of people did invest in the growth of government … and they did quite well at the expense of the rest of the population.
