I’m commissioning some illustrated novels (comic books) about liberty in the Arabic language with some talented and experienced creators of comic books in the Middle East. In order to understand the medium better, today I bought Understanding Comics: The Invisible Art, by Scott McCloud. It’s full of quite interesting ideas about art and ideas and, what’s more, artfully uses the medium of the comic book to explain them.
