Comparing wicked and destructive policies of states is not easy to do. But of all the terrible policies of governments, prohibition of substances people willingly pay to obtain from willing suppliers is certainly at or near the top of the list. If you want to end narco-terrorism, start by eliminating the narco part, which is how they get so much of their money. What’s happening in Mexico right now is evidence that “cracking down” on narcotics doesn’t increase security; it increases insecurity. It doesn’t lead to lawful government; it fosters corrupt and lawless government. And it doesn’t create order; it spreads disorder and chaos.
