I gave my talk on freedom of the press (as part of a panel) to the Fórum da Liberdade (it was, I think, well received) and then heard an electrifying talk by Brazilian businessman Salim Mattar. Few businessman anywhere in the world have the courage to speak like he did about liberty, about the state, about the market, about ethics, business, and politics. Wow.
I’m off tomorrow with colleagues for meetings in São Paulo, then back to the US.
Tom, any chance that Salim Maatar’s speech was transcribed, and could then be posted by you?
Any place we can see video (of you or the businessman)?
Dear John and Brian,
He spoke entirely in Portuguese, so I don’t know where to get a transcript. But you could visit the video page and see when they post the videos for the 2009 Forum:

Salim’s speech was electrifying, I have to say.
Tom, thanks, though I’d have a tough time with the Portuguese.
I was in the audience and it was very well received. Thank you for coming my city and adding so much value to the Fórum.
And I agree that Mattar’s speech was really something.
Dear friend Tom,
Congratulations on your very good blog, and thank you again for being here in Porto Alegre with us. Hope to buy your book soon and have one autographed.
We are working on the videos, and will have them subtitled to post on internet.
Regards,
RS
Dear Rafael,
It was a pleasure to visit with you and your colleagues once again. I’ll be happy to send you a copy of the book — you and your colleagues are an inspiration.
Thanks for the note on the videos, as well. Having subtitled versions will be great for spreading the libertarian message beyond the large circle of speakers of Portuguese.
Best,
Tom
