I figured there had to be someone, somewhere, who would be crass enough to use this remarkable woman’s death as an opportunity for bashing the anti-war movement. So I did a Google News search on Marla Ruzicka traitor and sure enough, there it was. I’m giving the link because I think it’s useful to remember that as stupid and vicious as some of the anti-war types are, there are hawks that verge on psychopathy. Amazing how cruel they can be. Needless to say, I do not endorse this idiot’s views.

  2. “She formed the Campaign for Innocent Victims in Conflict (CIVIC), the goal of which was anything but CIVIC during the War on Terror or ever. Ruzicka’s aim was to force the U.S. government to get an “accurate” count of “innocent civilian” deaths by U.S. troops and blackmail America into paying monetary settlements for each death.

But many of those dead included assorted terrorists, jihadists, and other collaborators and uprisers against Americans. Ruzicka had the gall to insist that these Afghani and Iraqi dead, terrorists or not, get recognition and sympathy equal to victims of the 9/11 attacks.

More outrageous, Ruzicka got taxpayer money to fund her aiding-and-abetting pursuits. Where was Marla Ruzicka on 9/11? Hint: Not asking Al-Qaeda for money to count and compensate U.S. victims of terror.”

That’s disturbing if true. However, the Code Pink thing seems to be more of a case of guilt by association.

To see what Marla Ruzicka actually worked for, see her organization’s website at

particularly the “about us” section. It is obvious that the “politicalusa” diatribe is a gross and vicious distortion.

Characterizing Human Rights Watch as a far left organization is also a ridiculous distortion.

Ungrounded ad hominem attacks seem to be the main technique of argument used by the right these days — at least in popular forums.

  4. Hey, for once LRC, Raimondo, and Palmer are in agreement. That’s pretty cool. And I agree with you, too, Tom. The more I read about her the more I see a truly servant-minded person and someone worth emulating.

It’s nice to see people react a little humbly when faced with someone that selfless.
