I got an email recently from my friend Barun Mitra of the Liberty Institute of India. He had an excellent piece recently in the Wall Street Journal on “India’s Race to Reform” that showed how a report comparing economic freedom, security of property, and other factors among the various Indian states had fired politicians to compete to produce more freedom.
Barun and his colleagues at the Liberty Institute are doing really important work promoting freedom in India, as are the libertarians at the Centre for Civil Society.
Both of those organizations do a huge amount of good on very modest (and carefully husbanded) budgets….in case anyone is interested in sending them some support.
It seems that Mitra’s piece is avaiable at http://online.wsj.com/article/0,,SB112260127078399556,00.html?mod=opinion%5Fmain%5Feurope%5Fasia for subscribers only, from July 29. I don’t see anything about the report on the Liberty Institute website. I hope they post a copy, as I’m a sucker for such reports.
