There is a German expression, “Trottel,” that seems to capture the essence of German Environmental Minister Jürgen Trittin, who suggested that George Bush was to blame for Hurricane Katrina and who compared the disaster scenes with the crackpot fantasy film “The Day After Tomorrow”: “Recently in the theaters, now in real life…”
Chances are very good that the Greens will no longer be a part of the governing coalition in German in just several short days. Although, the pragmatics in the party can be useful for several things (balanced budgets, cutting out-dated subsidies).
