I’m Over the Moon About the Success My Colleagues Have Attained with the Arabic Press

I just got an email from one of my colleagues in Jordan, informing me that Al Ahram of Egypt is publishing material from the Lamp of Liberty, starting with David Boaz’s essay “Parasite Economy Latches onto New Host.” (David’s article is appearing in papers across the Arabic world. I have gotten a few queries about why Arabic papers are not eager to publish essays by Adam Smith, F. A. Hayek, and Ludwig von Mises. In fact, we have had some classics of that sort published in Arabic newspapers, but like newspapers in the U.S., they prefer timely articles by contemporary authors that relate to topics in the news.)

Words cannot begin to express how proud I am of my colleagues and their hard work on this project. Thank you, my friends, including those whom I cannot name because they work under threat of retaliation for promoting freedom.

I would say that applies to all newspapers regardless of location. In addition to that, most essays by those authors (especially Smith and Hayek) are quite dense. I would guess the most suited candidates for publication in newspapers would be authors like Bastiat, Hazlitt and Sowell. Some of the work on development economics by Peter Bauer would also probably be a worthy candidate.
