Off to the Airport

The news is reporting how tense Beirut is going to be tomorrow, but you wouldn’t know it from the hopping cafes and diners in the (mainly Sunni) neighborhood where I’ve been staying.

I went with friends to Baalbek, Anjar, Zahle, and other towns. What an astonishing site Baalbek is. Wow. (I’ll post some photos later.)

The country is going about its business, at the same time that people are acutely aware of the political crisis, the security issues, and more. Police and army troops are everywhere and appear vigilant, but no one seems to be all that on edige. We took a major detour in the Bekaa Valley, as the police had closed off roads to accommodate a Hezbollah rally and passed a major rally in support of the prime minister, with Druse villagers streaming in bearing banners of the party led by Walid Jumblatt, which is strongly opposed to Syria reoccupying the country.

My car is here. Gotta run!

Ok, “Hiya,” add to those some of the other places he’s been to recently: Germany, Guatemala, US, England, Jordan, Oman, Egypt. Greece, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Holland, and some others I can’t remember. Hmmm…..a real pattern. You followers of Raimondo and Rockwell are pathetic.

  2. As we all know, if you happen to be in the same country with an American military presence, then it automatically means that you support that presence, all of its actions, and all of American foreign policy.

    Talk about guilt by association.
