I just had a really fruitful meeting in Kuala Lumpur at the offices of the Malaysia Think Tank, where good things are happening. I am holding in my hands a copy of the Malay edition of essays on political economy by Frederic Bastiat (“Petisyen Pembuat Lilin,” “A Petition“), Leonard Read (“Saya, Pensil,” “I, Pencil“), and others. What a delight.
We had a good conference at Sedar, the think tank of the Gerakan Party, yesterday, where the topic was “Is Government Solution the Answer?” (The implicit question reference was “to the world financial crisis,” but there was also discussion of laws regulating Muslim identity and other issues.)
I’m really pleased with the meetings with the Malaysian libertarians, who are really doing good work. Off to Indonesia tomorrow….
