I finally noticed this post. Perhaps interesting… I visited a “German technology museum” in Russia, the firm that used to be in charge of Soviet aerospace electronics. Among other things, they showed me what they claimed was still their best machining equipment — it was all German stuff the Red Army had liberated in 1945.
