An Endorsement

Anyone looking for a truly unusual and wonderful trip from north America or Europe should consider Iceland. The last time I was here was 1999 and that was clearly too long ago. The country is beautiful. The people are hospitable. The food is excellent. And the fresh north Atlantic air is a tonic beyond compare. (IcelandAir offers very reasonable flights and tour packages.)

The Mont Pelerin Society meeting is over (including the comment I gave this morning) and it was quite enlightening. Tomorrow I will meet a friend from Oxford who was with me a member of the Oxford University Hayek Society and the Oxford University Civil Liberties Society and is now mayor of a town near Reykjavik, Seltjarnarnes. Then it’s back to hot and muggy Baltimore (and then D.C.) on Friday.

  1. Everyone that I know who has traveled to Iceland has raved about the beauty, and the people, and the food. I’m jealous!

After suffering through several weeks of 115+ days here in Las Vegas this summer, I look fondly at the pictures of beautiful landscapes.

Some years ago, I hosted a Swedish exchange student. He had left Stockholm in snow and arrived at McCarran Airport at the height of our summer! It took him several weeks to orient himself to the change. Such a difference between the two parts of the world.

    Cheers!
