Full Service Libertarian Russian, Spanish, and Arabic Web Sites

I unveiled today at the MPS meeting the Cato Institute’s new web sites, www.cato.ru (Russian) and www.misbahalhurriyya.org (Arabic). They join Cato’s English web site, www.cato.org, and Cato’s spanish web site, www.elcato.org, which was set up in 1998.

Oops! As I have been deleting hundreds and hundreds of spam comments for pharmaceuticals, online gambling, porn, etc., I accidentally deleted a thoughtful comment from Kais Salhut (which I cannot now refind). He said (as I recall from having read his comment) that we had to go much further than just posting translations into Arabic.

My response: I agree wholeheartedly, Kais. There were already (when you posted your comment) a few pieces written in Arabic and from a middle eastern perspective by Shafeeq Ghabra. We also had a short bit by the great Ibn Khaldun and will be posting much larger essays from Arabic classics, as well as contemporary Arabic writers. We will also be commissioning a lot more material in Arabic in the future. These things all take time. But I appreciate your point. We are planning a lot more.
