Cato University Approaches
Saturday is the start of the Cato University summer seminar in northern Virginia, which will keep me busy full-time for the next week. I’ll have lots to do during the seminar, but I’ll also bring plenty of material to edit and to read. Speaking of which, I’ve finished Anthony Everitt’s outstanding new biography of Cicero. What a great read. It helped me to get a better handle on the civil wars and the collapse of the Roman Republic, as well as a better appreciation of the life of one of the most important and admirable men who ever lived. (And saying that he was admirable is not the same as saying that he was perfect or beyond reproach.)
