I’ve been on the phone with friends in Germany and going over the election results. Although it’s gratifying to see the Free Democratic Party (a party of freer markets and social toleration) greatly increase its share of the vote, it looks like the German voters opted for a bit of gridlock, rather than the economic reforms that Angela Merkel had promised as a Christian Democratic chancellor. Election results in English are available at Davids Medienkritik and at Der Spiegel.
Might we see a CDU/FDP/Green coalition emerge?
