I was expecting to be frantically packing this evening in preparation for my trip to Iraq, but this weekend I had to postpone it for logistical reasons. The Iraqi government has just instituted a new visa policy, so I would not be able to get a visa at the Baghdad International Airport, but would have to get one at the embassy in Washington, instead. After I found that out there was too little time to make the arrangements. So I’ll try to combine my next trip with a visit in November to Oman for a conference of libertarian economists (including several Iraqis I met on my last trip whom I’ve arranged to invite). That will also give my Iraqi friends more time to prepare lecture venues, as they’ve been rather busy with the October 15 referendum on the proposed new constitution.
I’ve also been offline for some time now, what with a combination of travel (and lousy internet connections) and transitioning to an entirely new computer system and internet connection when I’ve been at home. I’ll start posting a few more essays when the spirit moves me.
