I was just forwarded an online petition by a friend from Iraqi Kurdistan. It’s a petition against death by stoning for an Iranian woman who has been accused of adultery. I cannot vouch for the authenticity of the case and if anyone has further information, I would be grateful. I signed it, in any case, since regardless of the facts of the case, no one should be sentenced to death by stoning, whether for a victimless crime or not. (Of course, it’s especially heinous and criminal in cases of victimless crimes.)
hey, I thought Kurdistan was an outpost of freedom in Iraq. Wha happened?
Tom Palmer on Kurdistan:
“There are few uniqely victimized or victimizing groups (Arabs are also being victimized in individual cases, which is as unjust as victimizing Kurds). In fact, however, Arabs are voluntarily moving to the secure regions of Kurdistan (Erbil and Suleimani, for example) because they find more freedom, more security, and more opportunity.”

Hmmmmm …..
The petition indicates that the punishment was given by an Iranian court, not a court in Kurdistan, so I’m not quite sure what “Kurdiya’s” point is.
Somebody apparently didn’t click on the “online petition” link to read the petition before posting comments.
The Individualist seems to be the only one who knows who s/he is talking about.
