One of the Greatest Threats to Representative Government Is….

Campaign Finance “Reform” (a more neutral term would be “Restriction”; one that predisposes one toward free speech would be “Control,” or perhaps “Censorship”)

But it is not going unchallenged, despite the best efforts of those who wish to control speech to silence critics. Here’s a new proposal by Bradley A. Smith and Steve Simpson: “Unfettered Speech, Now.” (Smith, a long time friend, was sworn in as a Federal Elections Commissioner at a ceremony held at the Cato Institute and presided over by federal judge James Buckley. I’ve known David Keating, the founder of SpeechNow.org for years, since he was an undergraduate at Vassar, then later at the National Taxpayers Union, where I edited Dollars & Sense many years ago.)
