I’m not surprised. War is such a friend of the state, and most libertarians recognize that only with Obama might the war end.
They didn’t call out specifically how they defined libertarian, but I would guess it’s the “fiscally conservative, socially liberal” camp. I don’t understand what “fiscally liberal” means.
How does the four percent square with Boaz’ numbers?
I think my fellow libertarians are living a fantasy if the think Obama will end the war any faster than McCain, especially now that the fall in violence has led to dwindling media interest. Obama is certainly no anti-statist, nor are his supporters. I’m fairly certain that if a Democrat had invaded Iraq we’d be seeing the two dominant parties in switched positions. We have no good choices, but I can’t understand this self-deception among libertarians that Obama will in any way lead to less government.
