I arrived with my colleague Pierre Garello, Professor of Economics at the Faculté d’Economie Appliquée of Paul Cézanne University in Aix-en-Provence, in Leuven, a really beautiful university town, to begin tonight the Liberty Seminar. In addition to Pierre and myself, the other faculty are Carlo Lottieri, Assistant Professor Philosophy of Law at the University of Siena, and Boudewijn Bouckert, University Professor at the Law School of the University of Ghent. I’m trying to beat some deadlines on various editing jobs, so I have to buckle down and stay in the dorm room. I may have a little time over the next few days to see the city. We’ll see.

Saving the money of the Cato Institute’s donors, as are the other faculty members!
Hi Tom,
I grew up with Eric Shoemaker in Cazenovia, NY. His Father, Frank, and my dad were friends and used to trade books and strawberry gardening tips. Eric and I were “soccer pioneers” in 1974 in our small town. We used to go on long hikes together in the woods, talking about all kinds of things. We collected marbles, stamps, coins, books, trilobite fossils, etc. So many stories…
Please email me privately if you would like to converse.
I will do so. Eric was a dear friend and I will always miss him.
Leuven was indeed great.
Good seminar.
Thanks for the nice talks
