Mr. ‘Abdul Hamid al-Fakki is in danger of execution in Saudi Arabia. Amnesty International has issued an “Urgent Action” memo on the case. The memo offers information on the case and some very concrete things you can do to save the life of a man charged with a non-crime.
In the case of Ali Hussain Sibat, there is no news. I wrote on his case for the Daily Star of Beirut with my friend Raja Kamal, of the University of Chicago Harris School of Public Policy Studies: “Ali Hussein Sibat must not be executed“.
Letters help, my friends. I have sent letters. You can also sign an on-line petition to save the life of ‘Abdul Hamid al-Fakki here.

Tom,
Would you mind posting one or two of the letters you have written on behalf of Abdul, Kareem, etc.? It might help if folks could see a proper template.
Thanks!
And that;s happening in XXI century…
I will spread this among my friends as well.

God and we’re letting these people come into our country unchecked. No wonder our country is in such a mess. We actually have barbarians living amongst us like this.

Signed, and I’ve sent letters to the King and the Saudi ambassador in London.
@Greg N. Here is a letter-writing guide from Amnesty UK: http://www.amnesty.org.uk/content.asp?CategoryID=949
I found it helpful. The memo has the key points you need to get across on the second page.
@Ellen Strang, Most of “these people” (Arabs?) come to the US to enjoy their freedom and to escape from forms of oppression, not to export them. And none of the reasons “our country is in such a mess” could be pinned on “these people.” Our mountains of debt, runaway spending, and foreign entanglements are certainly not the fault of immigrants “living amongst us like this.”
Tom thanks for mentioning this on your blog.
I have set up a facebook site and the petition given by you in the link above.

If anyone wishes to contribute another letter, please feel free to do so.
Thanks
